Rainbow is a phenomenon in which water droplets in the presence of sunlight appears like a spectrum of light in the sky.

When sunlight com in the contact of raindrop some of its part reflected and the rest is entered inside the raindrop. This is Refraction. Then the sunlight inside the rain drop internally reflected and reaches the surface again.

Thus internal reflection occurs. The light refraction depends upon its wavelength, i.e. colour and this effect is Dispersion. Hence rainbow is an effect of dispersion, refraction, and internal ‘reflection of light’.
