A rational number is such that the numerator is 2 less than the denominator, the resulting rational number is equivalent to 3/5.Find the number.

Solution:-

Let the Denominator be x.

=> Numerator = x - 2.

 = > \frac{x-2}{x } = \frac{3}{5} \\ \\ = > 5x - 10 = 3x \\ \\ = > 2x = 10 \\ \\ = > x = 5

Hence,

The Numbers are 5 and 3.

let the denominator = x

numerator = x - 2

x - 2 / x = 3 / 5

cross multiplucation

3 ( x ) = 5 ( x - 2 )

3x = 5x - 10

3x - 5x = -10

-2x = -10

x = -10 / -2

x = 5

number = 5 , ( 5 - 2 = 3 )
