When it is multiplied by 5/4 ,
the number will be

$\frac{5}{4} x = \frac{5x}{4}$

Also,
3/8 is subtracted from the product

Therefore,

$\frac{5x}{4} - \frac{3}{8}$

The resultant number is 1/16

So,
the following balanced equation will be formed


$\frac{5x}{4} - \frac{3}{8} = \frac{1}{16}$


$\frac{5x}{4} = \frac{1}{16} + \frac{3}{8}$


$\frac{5x}{4} = \frac{7}{16}$

5x(16) = 7(4)

80x = 28

$x = \frac{28}{80}$

reducing the answer to it's simpliest form,
we have,

x = 7/20
