A rational number is such that when you multiply it by 3 and add to 2/3 to the product ,you get 5. what is the number?

so, according to the question:

3x + 2/3 = 5

9x + 2 = 15

9x  = 13

x = 13/9

lets check our answer by replacing x with our answer in the first equation

3X\frac{13}{9} + 2/3 = 5

13/3 + 2/3 = 5

15/3 = 5

5 = 5

since LHS = RHS, 13/9 is the correct answer
