Answer:

The angle of refraction is sin⁻¹(1/3).

Explanation:

We will solve this question through the concept of snell's law. Which is given as,

\mu_1 sin\theta_1=\mu_2sin\theta_2        (1)

Where,

μ₁=the refractive index of the medium in which the source light is present

μ₂=the refractive index of the medium  which the source of light has to cross

θ₁=angle of incidence

θ₂=angle of refraction

From question,

μ₁=1       (the source of light is present in air)

μ₂=1.5

θ₁=30°

By placing these values in equation (1) we get;

1\times sin 30\textdegree=1.5\times sin\theta_2

sin\theta_2=\frac{1}{3}

\theta_2=sin^-^1\frac{1}{3}

Hence, the angle of refraction is sin⁻¹(1/3).
