Use Snell’s law:

n(air). sin <i= n(water) sin<r…………..(1)

Here, n(air)=1

<i=angle of incidence =40 degree

<r= angle of refraction =29 degree

Put these values in equation (1) and get the value of n( water).

The Refractive index formula is

Sin(i)/sin(r)

Where i is the angle of incidence and r is the angle of refraction.

Plug in 40degrees and 29degrees, and solve for the answer..
