Explanation:

Given A ray of light with wavelength 5000 nm travelling from a medium with refractive index 3/2 suffers  partial reflection and refraction in a medium of refractive index 4/3.Find the wavelength of reflected and refracted ray.

We know that wavelength of reflected light is same as incident light since it goes back into same medium.

If the speed of light decreases the wavelength also decreases since the frequency remains constant.

Wavelength of the reflected ray = 5000 nm

So λ = 5000 x 10^-9 m, μ = 3/2 μ1 = 4/3

Wavelength of the refracted ray λ1 = μ x 5000 x 10^-9 / μ1

                                                          = 3/2 x 5000 x 10^-9 / 4/3

                                                          = 5639 nm
