A reaction is A + B⇌ C + D. Initially we
start with equal concentrations of A and B. At
equilibrium we find that the moles of C is two
times of A. What is the equilibrium constant of
the reaction?
(a) 1 (b) 1
4 2

(c) 4

Explanation:

A+B ⇌ C+D

At equilibrium C = 2A

x = 2(1-x)

3x = 2

Therefore x = 2/3

Initially:    1    1      0    0

Equilibrium:1-x    1-x    x    x

Finally:    1-2/3  1-2/3  2/3  2/3

Kc = [C].[D] / [A].[B] = [2/3 * 2/3] / [1/3 * 1/3] = 2 * 2 = 4

Option C is the answer.
