Given:

A recipe for cookies requires 2/3 cups of butter.

Rama wants to make 3/4 of the recipe.

To find:

The number of cups of butter should Rama use to make the cookies

Solution:

Let us take in the recipe the number of cookies we will get is 4

So, for this Rama has to take a total of 2/3 cup of the butter

But in the question, it is given that she wants to make only 3/4 of the recipe it means she has to makem 3 cookies

As per the unitary method

so we get,

  • 4 ------ 2/3
  • 1 ------- 2/3/4
  • 1 ------- 1/6
  • 3 -------- 3/6  = 1/2

Hence, 1/2 cups of butter Rama should use to make the cookies
