Answer:

To make 1 flapjack you need 200/10=20g of syrup

syrup and oat are in the ratio 1:3

so to make 1 flapjack you need 60g of oat

And to make 15 flapjacks you will need 15×60=

900g of oat Ans

The mass of oats needed to make 15 of these flapjacks is 900g.

  • Mathematicians use the term "ratio" to compare two or more numbers. It serves as a comparison tool to show how big or tiny an amount is in relation to another. Two quantities are compared using division in a ratio. In this case, the dividend is referred to as the "antecedent" and the divisor as the "consequent."
  • Comparing two amounts of the same units and determining the ratio tells us how much of one quantity is in the other. Two categories can be used to categorise ratios. Part to whole ratio is one, and part to part ratio is the other. The part-to-part ratio shows the relationship between two separate entities or groupings.

Here, according to the given information, we are given that,

A recipe for flapjacks uses only oats, butter and syrup in the ratio 3 : 2 : 1.

Let the amount of oats, butter and syrup that is needed are 3x, 2x and x respectively.

Now, 200 g of syrup is needed to make 10 flapjacks.

This means that the amount of syrup needed for 1 flapjack = \frac{200}{10}=20 g.

Then,  the amount of syrup needed for 15 flapjacks = 20.15 = 300g.

Now, since 3:1 is the ratio for oats to syrup, we have, the amount of oats as, 3.(300) = 900g.

Hence, the mass of oats needed to make 15 of these flapjacks is 900 g.
