A rectangle and a square have same area. The length of square and rectangle are 40 cm and 80 cm respectively. Find the breadth of the rectangle .

Answer :

\sf\pink{Given:}

  • Area of rectangle = Area of square

  • length of square is 40 cm .

  • length of rectangle is 80 cm .

\sf\pink{To\:Find:}

  • Breadth of the rectangle = ?

Explanation :

We can find the breadth of the rectangle by using the formula of area of Rectangle is length × breadth . here , we have two unknown quantities one is breadth and the other is area . we can find the area of the rectangle by finding out the area of square because area of square is equal to the area of rectangle .

\bf\red{Area\:of\: square = {side}^{2}}

\bf\red{Area\:of\: square = {40}^{2}}

\bf\red{Area\:of\: square = 40\times 40}

\bf\red{Area\:of\: square = 1600 }

  • Therefore area of square is 1600 cm²

  • Areas of rectangle is also 1600 cm²

\bf\purple{Area\:of\: rectangle = l\times b}

\longrightarrow\bf\purple{1600 = 60\times b}

\longrightarrow\bf\purple{1600 = 60b}

\longrightarrow\bf\purple{b = \dfrac{1600}{60}}

\longrightarrow\bf\purple{b = \dfrac{160}{6}}

\longrightarrow\bf\purple{b = 26.66 }
