a rectangle has a length of 5cm less then twice it width. if length is decreased by 5cm and width is increased by 2cm; if the perimeter of the resulting rectangle will be 72cm. find the length and the width of the original rectangle

let the width of original rectangle be b
then,length=5-2b
length of new rectangle=5-(5-2b)
and, breadth=2+b
perimeter of new rectangle =2(l+b)
72=2(-2b+2+b)
72=2(-b+2)
