Given :

  • A rectangle has the area equal to that of a square of side = 80 cm.
  • The length of the rectangle = 160 cm.

To Find :

  • It's breadth ?

Solution :

Let, the breadth of the rectangle be x.

We need to find the area of a square.

Area of spuare = a²

 \implies {(80 \: cm)}^{2}  \\  \\  \implies6400  \: {cm}^{2}

Given that,

Area of a rectangle = Area of a square

That means,

Area of a rectangle = 6400 cm²

Length × Breadth = 6400 cm²

 \implies160 \times x = 6400 \:  {cm}^{2}  \\ \\  \implies 160x = 6400 \:  {cm}^{2}   \\ \\  \implies x =  \dfrac{6400}{160}    \: {cm}^{2} \\   \\ \implies x =  \dfrac{640}{16}  \:  {cm}^{2}  \\ \\   \implies x = 40 \:  {cm}^{2}

Hence, the breadth of the rectangle is 40 cm².
