A rectangle is 16m by 9m . Find a side of the square whose area equals the area of the rectangle. By how much does the perimeter of the rectangle exceed the perimeter of the square.

ar of rect =lb=16×9=144cm2
ar of sq.=a2
a2=144
a= 12m
side of square will be 12 m
perimeter of rect =2(l+b)=50m
pe. of sq. = 4a=48m
perimeter or rectangle exceeds by 2m
