❏ Question:-

A rectangle plot is 110m × 80m. the plot is to be laid with grass leaving 5m wide strip inside the plot around it. find the area to be laid with grass.

❏ Solution:-

\setlength{\unitlength}{0.78 cm}\begin{picture}(12,4)\thicklines\put(4.5,7.5){$80\:cm$}\put(8.1,5.3){$110 \:cm$}\put(11.5,7.5){$80 \:cm$}\put(8.1,9.5){$110\:cm$}\put(6,6){\line(1,0){5}}\put(6,9){\line(1,0){5}}\put(11,9){\line(0,-1){3}}\put(6,6){\line(0,1){3}}\put(7,6.8){\line(1,0){3}}\put(7,8.2){\line(1,0){3}}\put(10,8.2){\line(0,-1){1.4}}\put(7,6.8){\line(0,1){1.4}}\put(7.1,7.4){$70\:m$}\put(7.85,6.9){$100\:m$}\end{picture}

✦Given:-

➝For the Rectangular plot:-

• length= 110 m.

• breadth=80 m.

Hence, Area = (110×80) m² = 8,800 m².

➝For the grass portion:-

length = [110-(5+5)] m= 100 m.

•breadth=[80-(5+5)] m= 70 m

Hence, Area = (100×70) m² = 7,000 m².

∴ The area laid to be with grass is

=(8,800 - 7,000) m².

=1,800
