A rectangle was altered by increasing its length by 10 percent and decreasing its width by p percent. If these alterations decreased the area of the rectangle by 12 percent, what is the value of p?​

Area of rectangle = Length × Breadth

Let A1 = L1 × B1

Given , L2 = 10 % + L1 = 1.1 L1

And, B2 = B1 - P/100 = 100B1 - P/100

➡️ A2 = 0 . 88A1

➡️ L2 × B2 = 0.88 ( L1 × B1 )

➡️ 1.1L1 × B1 - P/ = 0.88 ( L1 × B1 )

➡️ 1.1 × ( B1 - P ) = 88 B1

➡️ 110 B1 - 1.1 P = 88 B1

➡️ 22 B1 = 1.1 p
