Heya
Here's your answer !!
________________________
GIVEN THAT :
( Refer to the pic for diagram )
ABCD is a rectangular carpet
AB ( Length ) = 1.8 m
AC (diagonal ) = 4.6 m
_________________________
TO FIND :
Area of the carpet
________________________
SOLUTION :
First we'll find the breadth of the carpet
BC = ?
By Pythagorous Theorem,
=> AB^2 + BC^2 = AC^2
=> BC^2 = AC^2 - AB^2
=> BC^2 = ( 4.6 )^2 - ( 1.8 )^2
=> BC^2 = 21.16 - 3.24
=> BC =
=> BC = 4.23 m
________________
Area = L × B
=> AB × BC
=> 1.8 × 4.23
=> 7.614 m^2 ANS
