A rectangular field is 36m long and 22m wide. It has two cross road, one parallel to its length and the other parallel to its width. Find the area of the cross road if each is 1.5m wide.

length of field =36 cm
breadt of field=22cm
area= l*b
= 36*22
=

from the figure cross roads are in rectangle shape
area of rectangle = l×b
ar( first road) =36×1.5
=54m square
ar(second road )=l×b
=22×1.5
=33
but the two roads intersect at a point so we have to subtract that area54+33=87
87-(1.5×1.5)
87-2.25
84.75
