Answer:

width = 27 m

Length = 43 m

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the width of the field be x m

Length of the field is 16m more than the width

⇒Length of the field = (x + 16) m

140 m of fencing is required

∴Perimeter = 140 m

Perimeter = 2 * (Length + Width)

⇒140 = 2 * (x + 16 + x)

⇒140 = 2 * (2x + 16)

⇒140 = 4x + 32

⇒4x = 108

⇒x = 27

∴ width = 27 m

∴ Length = (27 + 16) m

               = 43 m

Answer:

Let the width of rec. is to be x

therefore length=x+16

perimeter of rec. =2(l+b)

140m=2(x+16+x)

140m=2(2x+16)

140m/2=2x+16

70m=2x+16

70m-16=2x

54=2x

54/2=x

27=x

so, width =x=27m

length=x+16

27+16

43m
