A rectangular garden 20m * 15m has a path 1.5 wide all around it. Find the area of the path.

area of inner rec ABCD= l×b

=20×15m

=300m^2

sides of outer rectangle PQRS

length=20+1.5m

=21.5m

breadth=15+1.5m

=16.5m

area of rec PQRS=l×b

=21.5×16.5

=354.75m^2

area of the path=

area of rec PQRS-area of rec ABCD

=354.75-300m^2

=54.75m^2

hence,the area of the path is 54.75m^2
