A rectangular garden 40 m x 30 m is surrounded from outside
by a path of equal width. If the area of the path is 456 m”, find
the width of the path.​

Answer:

Length of the garden = 40m

Width of the garden = 30m

Area of the graden = Length x Breadth = 40 x 30 = 1200m²

Area of the path = 456m²

Total area of the rectangular garden including the path = 1200 + 456 = 1856m²

Length of the new rectangle garden that includes path = 40m

Width of the new rectangle garden = 1856 / 40 = 46.4 m

Width of the rectangle garden excluding the path = 30 m

Width of the 2 path = 46.4m - 30m = 16.4m

Width of the path = 16.4/2 = 8.2m (Answer.)
