Step-by-step explanation:

length=x+15

breadth=x

area=x(x+15)=x2+15x=2700

x2+15x-2700=0

x2+60x-45x-2700=0

x=45=breadth

length=60

Answer :

  • Length = 60ft

  • Breadth = 45ft.

Explanation :

Given,

  • Length of reactangle is 15ft more than its width.

Let,

  • It's width be x

  • It's length = 15 + x

We know that ,

  • Area of reactangle = length × breadth.

 \implies \: 2700 = x \times (15 + x)

 \implies \: 2700 = 15x +  {x}^{2}

 \implies \:  {x}^{2}  + 15x - 2700 = 0

 \implies \:  {x}^{2}  + 60x - 45x - 2700 = 0

 \implies \: x( x + 60) - 45(x + 60) = 0

 \implies \: (x   -   45)(x  +  60) = 0

=> The values of x are 45 and (-60) ft.

since length can't be negative ,

The value of x is 45.

________________________

  • The measure of width = 45ft.

  • The measure of length = 45 + 15 ft. = 60ft.
