Answer :

The factors are (x + 6) and (x - 1) and their values are (-6,1)

Given :

equation :

 {x}^{2}  + \: 5x  \: -  \: 6

product = (-6)

sum = 5

factors ( 6 , -1 )

Now split the terms :

 {x}^{2}  + 5x - 6 = 0

 {x}^{2}  + 6x - x - 6 = 0

x(x + 6) - (x + 6) = 0

(x + 6)(x - 1) = 0

Therefore ,

the factors are (x + 6) and (x - 1)

=> x + 6 = 0

=> x = (-6)

and

=> x - 1 = 0

=> x = 1

Therefore,

The values of x are ( -6 , 1 )

Step-by-step explanation:

x^2 + 5x -6 =0

x^2 + 6x -x -6 =0

2x( x +3 ) -1 ( x +3 ) =0

(x+3) (2x -1) =0

x = -3 x = 1/2
