area of frame = area of whole mirror-area of mirror without frame

=15x12 -[(15-2)(12-2)]

=180-[13 x 10]

=180-130=50cm²

so area of frame =50cm²

Just understand that while framing, the frame will overlap the original mirror.
So area of original mirror=15×12=180cm²
Area of the visible part of the mirror when the frame is fixed on it=(15-2)×(12-2) = 130cm²
So area of the frame=180-130= 50cm²
