GIVEN

Length of rectangular park = 55m

Breadth of rectangular park = 25m

Width of path = 2.5m

TO FIND

Total cost of grassing the remaining part

of the park.

FORMULA

Area of rectangular park = L × B

SOLUTION

Area of rectangular park = L × B

= (55 × 25)m²

= 1375m²

Area of ABCD = 1375m²

Now, we will find the area of path.

For area of path we will subtract the area of

rectangular ABCD from EFGH.

So, we will find the area of EFGH

The path is 2.5m wide. So,

Length of EFGH = (55 + 2.5)m

= 57.5m

Breadth of EFGH = (25 + 2.5)m

= 27.5m

So, area of EFGH = (57.5 × 27.5)m²

= 1581.25m²

Area of path =

(Area of EFGH ) - (Area of ABCD)

THEN,

= (1581.25 - 1375)m²

= 206.25m²

So, area of the path is 206.25m²

Now, cost of grassing the path =

= (206.25 × 60)m²

= 12375m²

So, the total cost of grassing the path

is 12375m²
