A rectangular park is 60 m long and 40 m wide. A path 2.5 m wide is constructed outside the park. Find the
area of the path.​

• Breadth of the plot = 40m

• Breadth of the path = 3m

To Find :-

• Area of the path

Now if we consider the plot as rectangle and after the construction of path, we can conclude two rectangles :-

• Inner Rectangle • Outer Rectangle

Now,

Area of the outer rectangle = Length × Breadth

= 60m × 40m

=2400m²

Now to find the dimensions of outer rectangle,

• Length = 60m + ( 2 × 3 )m

= 60m + 6m

= 66m

• Breadth = 40m + ( 2 × 3 )m

= 40m + 6m

= 46m

Now,

Area of outer rectangle = Length × Breadth

= 66m × 46m

=3036m²

Now, Area of path = Area of outer rectangle - Area of inner rectangle

= 3036m² - 2400m²

= 636m²

Hence, the area of path is 636m²
