See the attached figure;

Area of road = Area of shaded part

Area of shaded part = Area of rectangle PQRS - Area of rectangle ABCD

For rectangle ABCD,

Length = 22.5 m
Breadth = 24.4 m

So Area = Length × Breadth

Area of rec. ABCD = 22.5m × 24.4m = 549 m

Now For rectangle PQRS,

Length = Length AB + 1.5 +1.5
Length = 22.5 +1.5+1.5
Length = 25.5 m

Breadth = Breadth AD + 1.5+1.5
Breadth = 24.4 + 1.5+1.5
Breadth = 27.4 m

Area = 25.5 × 27.4 = 698.7m^2

Now Area of road = 698.7-549
Area of road = 149.7

Answer:

Let ABCD be the plot of grass and PQRS is the road

Now,

AB = 25.5 m and BC = 24.4 m

Then ,

PQ = (25.5+ 1.5+ 1.5) m = 28.5 m

QR = (24.4 + 1.5 + 1.5) m= 27.4m

Therefore sign will be required Area of PQRS = 28.5 × 27.4 = 780.90m

Therefore Sign will be required, Area of ABCD = 25.5 ×24.4 = 622.20 m

Therefore sign will be required, Area of the road = ( 780.90 -- 622.20 ) subtract

158.70 m square .
