Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Let l and b be the length and breadth of rectangle. Then, given conditions are :

2(l+b) = 146

Therefore, l+b = 73

b = 3l +5 i.e, b - 3l = 5

Subtract the two Equations.

l = 17, b = 56

perimeter=2(l+b)=146

(l+b)=146/2=73

let length, l=x

width=73-x

if length=x

and width=3x+5

x(3x+5)=x(73-x)

3x²+5x=73x-x²

3x²+x+5x-73x=0

4x²-68x=0

x²-17x=0

x²-17x+17/2²=17/2²

(x-17/2)²=289/4

x-17/2=17/2

x=17/2+17/2

= 34/2

= 17

so length=17

width=3×17+5

=56
