Given:

A rectangular sheet of 84 cm × 34 cm

To find:

How many square pieces of side 10cm could be cut from this sheet. And also find the area of the remaining sheet?

Solution:

The dimensions of the rectangular sheet:

Length = 84 cm

Breadth = 34 cm

∴ The area of the rectangular sheet = length × breadth = 84 × 34 = 2856 cm²

The dimensions of each square piece:

Side = 10 cm

∴ The area of each square piece = side² = 10² = 100 cm²

Finding the no. of square pieces that can be cut:

No. of square sheets cut from the given rectangular sheet is,

= \frac{Area\:of\:rectangular\:sheet}{Area \:of \:each\:square\:piece}

= \frac{2856}{100}

= 28.56

rounding off to the nearest

\bold{28}

Finding the area of the remaining sheet:

So,

The area of 28 square pieces will be = 28 × 100 cm² = 2800 cm²

∴ The area of the remaining sheet after cutting 28 square sheets is,

= [Area of the rectangular sheet] - [Area of 28 square sheets]

= 2856 cm² - 2800 cm²

= 56 cm²

Thus,

\boxed{\bold{\underline{28} \:square\:pieces\:of \:side\:10\:cm\:could\:be\:cut\:from\:the\:rectangular\:sheet}}.\\\\\boxed{\bold{The \:area\:of\:the \:remaining \:sheet\:is\: \underline{56\:cm^2} }}.

Dear Student,

★ Answer :

➠   56 pieces of side 10 cm could be cut from the Remaining sheet .

The Area of the Remaining Sheet is 56cm²

★ Explanation :

➼ Given:

A rectangular sheet of 84 cm × 34 cm

➼ To find:

How many square pieces of side 10cm could be cut from this sheet. And also find the area of the remaining sheet?

____________________________

Solution  :

The dimensions of the rectangular sheet:

⇒ Length = 84 cm

⇒ Breadth = 34 cm

The area of the rectangular sheet = length × breadth = 84 × 34 = 2856cm²

The dimensions of each square piece: Side = 10 cm

The area of each square piece = side² = 10² = 100 cm²

Then,

⇒ Finding the no. of square pieces that can be cut:

No. of square sheets cut from the given rectangular sheet is,

= \frac{ Area    OF   Rectangular sheet }{Area of Each  Square Piece}

= \frac{2856}{100}

= 28.56

Rounding off to the nearest

≈ 28

➥ Then,

Finding the area of the remaining sheet:

The area of 28 square pieces will be = 28 × 100 cm² = 2800 cm²

The area of the remaining sheet after cutting 26 square sheets is,

= [Area of the rectangular sheet] - [Area of 26 square sheets]

= 2856 cm² - 2800 cm²

= 56 cm²
