Answer :-

855.27 cm³

Solution :-

Dimensions of rectangular sheet =

  • Length = 42 cm
  • Breadth = 16 cm

Length of the cylinder i.e height ( h ) = 42 cm

Rectangular sheet is rolled along length

Let the radius of the base be r cm

So, Breadth of the rectangle = Circumference of the base

⇒ 16 = 2πr

⇒ 16/2π = r

⇒ 8/π = r

⇒ r = 8/π

Volume of the cylinder = πr²h

= π * ( 8/π )² * 42

= π * 8²/π² * 42

= 64/π * 42

= 64/ (22/7) * 42

= 64 * 7/22 * 42

= 18816/22 = 855.27 cm³

Therefore the volume of the cylinder is 855.27 cm³.

QUESTION :-

a rectangular sheet of paper 42cm x 16cm is rolled along its lenght and a cylinder is formed . find the volume of cylinder.

ANSWER:-

.°. A rectangle is rolled along length then circumference of circle is equal to length of rectangle and breath equal to height .

➠.°. (given) :- l(h) = 42cm, b = 16cm.

➠ So, circumference of circle = breath of the rectangle .

➠ 2πr = 16

➠ 2 * π * r = 16

➠ r = 8/π

➠ .°. volume of the cylinder = πr²h

= π * (8/π)² * 42

= π * (8²/π²) * 42

= 64π *42

= 64 * 3.14 * 42

= 8440.32cm³

hence, the volume of cylinder is 8440.32cm³.
