A rectangular swimming pool 30 m long, 20 m wide and 1.5 m deep is to be tiled.If each tile is 50cm × 50cm , how many tiles will be required? (Remember , there is no roof for the pool.)

Length = 30 m

Width = 20 m

Depth = 1.5m

As there are no roof in a pool, therefore the area which is to be tilled = lb + 2h(l+b)

30*20 + 2*1.5(30+20)

600 + 3 *50

600 +150

750 m²

Area of one tile = 50*50 cm = 50/10.*50/100 m² = 1/4 m²

Therefore number of tiles required is 4/1*750 = 3000 tiles
