A rectangular water reservoir id 10.8m by 3.75m at the base . Water flows into it at the rate of 18m/s through a pipe having cross-section 7.5cm × 4.5 cm. Find the height in which water will rise in 30 minutes

water comes out from pipe in 1 sec = 7.5*4.5*1800 = 60750 cm^3 = 6.075 m^3
water comes out from pipe in 30 min = 6.075*30*60 = 10935 m^3
10.8*3.75*rise in level = 10935
rise in level = 10935/ (10.8*3.75) = 10935/40.5 = 270 m
   RISE IN WATER LEVEL = 270m

Answer:Let Water raise by h meter height.

Length of Rectangular Reservoir = 10.8 m

Width of Rectangular Reservoir = 3.75 m

Volume of Rectangular Reservoir = 10.8×3.75×h=(40.5×h)m3 (1)

Cross section of Pipe = 7.5 * 4.5 = 33.75 cm2 = 0.003375 m2

Speed of water = 18m/s

Distace covered in 30m ( 1800s) = 18 * 1800 = 32400m

Volume of Water flowed in 30 m = cross section of pipe * distance covere = 0.003375 * 32400 = 109.35 m3 (2)

From (1) and (2)

40.5 * h = 109.35

=> h = 2.7 m
