reduction of 25% means price becomes = xx - 25% of xx

or new price =x−x4=3x4=x−x4=3x4

Now, for Rs. 189189, the customer was able to buy, say, yy kg of rice, then

189=(189=(initial price per kg)×()×(weight bought)=x×y)=x×y

And, now from the same amount of money, he can buy (y+3)(y+3) kg of rice at new price

189=(189=(new price per kg)×()×(new weight)=3x4×(y+3))=3x4×(y+3)

So, now we need to find x from the following 2 equations :

189=x×y189=x×y

189=3x4×(y+3)189=3x4×(y+3)

If we substitute yy from 1st equation in the 2nd, we get the following equation :

189=3×1894+9x4189=3×1894+9x4

or 189×14=9x4189×14=9x4

or x=21x=21

Hence, the original price was Rs 21

Answer:

Ans.(i)Rupees 50     (ii)Rupees 66 2/3

Step-by-step explanation:

Solution:-

Reduced Price= 25% of Rupees 600=25/100  X 600=Rupees 150

Since there is an reduction of 25% in price,a person buys 3 kg of pulses more

So,decreased Price=Decreased Price of 3 Kg Pulses

=>150=Decreased Price of 3 Kg Pulses

=>150/3=Decreased Price of 1 Kg Pulses

=>Rupees 50=Decreased Price of 1 Kg Pulses......................................(i)

Let Original Price of 1 Kg Pulses=x

Reduction (decrease)of 25% in original Price=x- (25% of x)

Decreased Price of 1 Kg=x-  25x/100=   (100x- 25x)/100=75x/100

=>75x/100=Decreased Price of 1 Kg Pulses................................................(ii)

From equation (i) and (ii)

75x/100=50

75x=50 X 100

x=(50 X 100)/75=200/3=66 2/3

Original Price of 1 Kg=x =Rupees 66 2/3

Ans.(i)Rupees 50     (ii)Rupees 66 2/3
