Mighty Caesar Assassinated By Brutus, Senators
Rome: March 16, 44BC. The politics of Rome took an utterly unexpected turn yesterday when the mighty Roman General and dictator, Julius Caesar was brutally assassinated by his trusted senators at the Capitol. Caesar was having an important meeting with the senators, when the pro-Pompey faction consisting of Brutus, Cassius, Casca, Decius Brutus, Metellus Cimber, Trebonius, Cinna, Lepidus, Popilius, Publius, and others approached him and started pleading for Publius Cimber’s pardoning and repealing of his banishment. When Caesar refused to do so, all the members of this group began stabbing him one after another with the swords and daggers hidden under their robes.
After the assassination the assassins shouted and screamed ‘Liberty’, ‘Freedom’, and ‘Tyranny is dead’. People gathered at the capitol ran to their houses in panic after hearing the assassination. According to an eyewitness it was a pre-planned conspiracy which had been flourishing in Rome for quite some time.
