Answer:

  • 1200 J

Explanation:

Given

  • Resistance = 20
  • Potential difference (V) = 20 V
  • Time = 1 min = 60 sec

To find

  • Heat (Energy) (H)

Solution

→ H = (V²/R) × Time

  • (20²/20) × 60
  • (400/20) × 60
  • (40/2) × 60
  • 1200

Hence, the heat produced is 1200 J

Answer:

The answer will be 1200 Joules.

Explanation:

Given;

             Resistance = 20 ohm.

             Potential difference = 20 V;

                Time = 1 minute = 60 second;

Now, heat produced by a resistor is given by;

                     H = VIt;                                             (i)

          where, I = current;

                      V = Potential difference

                     t = time;

        and,        H = heat energy.

Now, we know that;

                    V = IR;                                       (Ohm's law)

  thus,           I = V/R;                                           (ii)

From eq. (i) and (ii);

              H = V(V/R)t;

                  = (V^2)(t)/R;

Therefore,  H (Heat energy) = (V^2)(t)/R;

                                               = (20)^2(60) / 20;

                                               = 1200 Joules.

That's all.
