by vector addition of forces

 \sqrt{ {a}^{2}  +  {b}^{2} + 2abcos60 }   =  \sqrt{13}   \:  (i)  \:  \:  \:  \:  \sqrt{ {a}^{2}  +  {b}^{2} }  =  \sqrt{10} (ii) \:  \: from \: i \: and \: ii \: we \: get \: a = 3 \: and \: b = 1
