A retailer buys shirts from a manufacture at the rate of Rs.200per shirt and marked them at Rs.300 each. He allows some discount and earns a profit of 35% on the cost price.find the percentage of discount?

cost price = 200

he sells by gaining 35 % profit

therefore , selling price = 200 + 200 × 35%

= 200 + 200 × 35 /100

= 200 + 70

= 270

now marked price = 300


so discount on marked price ,

= 300 - 270

= 30 rs

so , discount percentage = discount × 100 / marked price

= 30 × 100 / 300

= 10 %
