➨ Pasteurization is one of the food preservation methods.

➨ Generally, pasteurization is used to prevent the food items from getting spoiled by microorganisms or pathogens.

➨ Pasteurization was developed by Louis Pasteur, in order to store milk.

➨ In this method, milk is heated up-to 70°C for 15 to 30 seconds to destroy the microorganisms and then it is chilled and stored in sterilized bottles or pouches. This prevents the growth of microbes in milk.
