A ribbon is 3 meters long.I need 8 pieces of ribbon each 40cm long how many cm shorter is the ribbon than the lenght i need?

total ribbon needed = 8×40 = 320 cm

but we have 3m or 300 cm

so we need 20 cm more ribbon
