A right circular cylinder has a height of 20.5 ft and a diameter 1.2 times its height. Find the height of the cylinder, and use the formula to find the volume of the cylinder? Draw a picture if necessary on scrap paper to help you solve the problem. Explain your work or show each step in solving the problem. Use 3.14 for pi and round only your final answer to the nearest hundredth. Express your answer using the correct unit of measure.

We need to find diameter and Volume of given right circular cylinder -

  • Given height of cylinder - 20.5 ft
  • diameter of cylinder = 1.2 times × height = 1.2 × 20.5
  • Therefore, diameter =  24.6 ft
  • Volume of cylinder = πr²h
  • Radius of cylinder = diameter/2 = 24.6/2 = 12.3 ft
  • Volume = π × (12.3)² ×20.5
  • Volume of right circular cylinder = 9738.537 ft³ = 275.765 m³
