In ∆ABC, let AC = 13cm
AB = 12cm
According to Pythagoras theorem,
AC² = AB² + BC²
169 = 144 + BC²
BC² = 25
BC = 5cm
So BC is the base and AB is the height.
Area of ∆ABC = 1/2 × base × height
= 1/2 × 5 × 12
= 6 × 5 = 30 cm²
AB = 12cm
According to Pythagoras theorem,
AC² = AB² + BC²
169 = 144 + BC²
BC² = 25
BC = 5cm
So BC is the base and AB is the height.
Area of ∆ABC = 1/2 × base × height
= 1/2 × 5 × 12
= 6 × 5 = 30 cm²
