A rigid square loop of side ‘a’ and carrying current I₂ is laying on a horizontal surface near a long current I₁ wire in the same plane as shown in figure. The net force on the loop due to the wire will be:
(A) Repulsive and equal to μ₀I₁I₂/2π
(B) Attractive and equal to μ₀I₁I₂/3π
(C) Zero (D) Repulsive and equal to μ₀I₁I₂/4π

Answer:

F3 and F4 each other

Force on PQ will be F1=I2B1a=I23πμ0I1I2=2πμ0I1I2

Force on RS will be F2=I2B2a=I22π2aμ0I1I2a=4πμ0I1I2

Net force =F1−F2=4πμ0
