If a river is flowing at a rate of 2.4 km/hr and if the depth of the river is 5m and width is 10m, then the volume of water that will fall into the sea in a minute is 2000 m³ or 20,00,000 L.

Step-by-step explanation:

The rate at which the river is flowing = 2.4 km/hr = 2.4 * [1000/60] m/min = 40 m/min …. [since 1 hr = 60 min]

Also,

The breadth of the river is given as = 5 m

The width of the river is given as = 10 m

So, the area of cross-section of the river will be = 5 * 10 = 50 m²

Now,

The amount of water i.e., the volume of water that will be falling through the area of cross-section of the river in 1 minute is given by,

= [Area] * [Rate of flowing in a minute]

= [50 m²] * [40 m/min]

= 2000 m³

We know,

1 m³ = 1000 L

2000 m³ = 2000 * 1000 = 20,00,000 L

Thus, 2000 m³ or 20,00,000 litres of water will be falling from into the sea in a minute.

Hope this is helpful!!!!
