A river is flowing from west to east at a speed of 5 m/min. a man who can swim at the rate of 10m/min in still water , is standing on the south bank of the river . he wants to swim across the river in the shortest time.he should swim in a direction:a) due north b) 30 degree east of north c) 30 degree west of north d) 60 degree east of north.

30 degree east ...if he goes 30 than covers distance in minimum time

Ans is( c )because if we imagine to travel straight towards north ,then we will get tilt to travel 30°north east
So to travel straight,we will travel 30°towards west by this, river will automatically alighn us to 90°till we reach the another bank
