If velocity is v
then kinetic energy = 1/2 mv^2.
if velocity v' = 3v
then kinetic energy' = 1/2 mv'^2
= 1/2 m9v^2
Now,
so the kinetic energy will become 9 times than the original one.

When velocity is v kinetic energy is k
When velocity is 3v kinetic energy is 1/2m 9v^2
So kinetic energy becomes 9 times more that is 9k
