A rocket is travelling at a speed of 500m/s. Ejects products of combustion at the speed of 1500m/s, relative to rocket . The speed of escaping vapours with respect to person on earth​

Speed of rocket with respect to ground = 500m/s

Speed of ejected gas with respect to ground = 1000m/s

If we take direction of motion of rocket as positive, then

Velocity of rocket w.r.t ground = 500m/s

Velocity of ejected gas w.r.t ground = - 1000m/s

Velocity of gas w.r.t rocket = (-1000)-500 m/s

= - 1500m/s

Thus, speed of ejected gas w.r.t rocket = 1500m/s

as speed is the magnitude of velocity.
