A rod elongated by 'l' when a body of mass 'm' is suspended from it. then what is the work done ?

The work done by rod will be equal to the P.E. but in the opposit direction i.e. -Mgl..

Work=1/2×stress×strain×Volume

Work=1/2×F/Area×L/length×Volume

Work=1/2×F/Volume ×L×Volume

Work=1/2×F×L

Work=1/2×MgL
