Given - Length of rod - 25 cm

refractive index of liquid - 5/3

Find - Apparent length of rod.

Solution - Refractive index of medium, real length of rod and apparent length of rod are related by the formula -

meu = real length/ apparent length,

where meu is refractive index.

Keeping the values in formula -

5/3 = 25/apparent length

apparent length = 15 cm.

Hence, length of rod visible from outside the beaker will be 15 cm.
