There are many leaders or freedom fighters from Assam because of who, we can live in an independent India today. Many of them questioned the British Authority. They also worked very hard to stop the British from invading India further or coming here further. Many of the leaders were from Nagaon District of Assam as well.

Some of the women freedom fighters were those like Maitreyee and Gargi.

Most of the leaders emerged from the north east region of India during the British rule of India period.

Some of the male leaders were Maniram Dewan, Kiang Nangbah, Taji Mideran,Rani Gaidinliu, Kushal Konwar, Shoorvir Pasaltha,Hem Barua, Bir Tikendra Jikt singh, Kanaklata Barua, etc.
