A rombus,Whose side is 5.5 cm, has one angle equal to 60°. What will be the length the smaller diagonal?

Answer :

Given side of rhombus  =  5.5 cm and one angle is 60° , As :

Refer to pic above...

∠ BAD  = 60° , So BD is smaller diagonal 

And


∠ ABC  = 120°     , We know adjacent angle of rhombus are supplementary  .

And Diagonal of rhombus bisect it's angles , So

Diagonal BD bisect ∠ ABC  and ∠ ADC  , So

∠ ABD  =  ∠ ADB = 60° 

So,

In triangle  ABD  , all internal angles are at 60°   , So  triangle ABD is a equilateral triangle ,  So

AB  =  BD  =  DA  =  5.5 cm 

Then  ,

We can say length of smaller diagonal  =  5.5 cm                                    (  Ans )
